"SAME TIME, ANOTHER YEAR"

The play "SAME TIME, ANOTHER YEAR" is one more co-project with the participation of Hristo Shopov and Lilia Maravilia. Their masterful performance conquered the theatre’s audience during the first part of the production - "Same time, next year" - a play based on the scenario of the brilliant playwright Bernard Slade.

The crowded auditorium, with more than 100 performances at home stages, the wild applause and the broad media response, motivated us to go for the natural dramaturgical continuation of the play - "SAME TIME, ANOTHER YEAR". The actors continue with their prominent creative symbiosis in order to reveal throughout their characters, George and Doris, the secrets of a touching love, unbowed by any life circumstances!

The wonderful translation is made by Prof. Andrei Avramov. The director Georgi Mihalkov intuitively succeeds to build the characters in the best way and together with the whole team to present to the audience an anticipated and unforgettable show, which, we believe, will have the same exceptional success!

"SAME TIME, ANOTHER YEAR" is a play that paints a story with the palette of all human emotions and states. A sensual and entertaining dialogue about the inevitable wandering between the comfortable self-deception and the sobering truths. At that point of life, in which you feel the need to reevaluate the missed opportunities and to indulge in unfulfilled ideas, together with someone who loves and supports you! For those moments in which you hurry to cross the desert of the unreceived answers and climb your personal Everest.

"ALL OR NOTHING"

‘All or Nothing’ is a theatre show inspired by friendship and love. An intriguing story written and directed by Liza Shopova especially for Hristo Shopov, Lilia Maravillia and Irini Jambonas. These three actors find themselves connected by friendship and a shared working relationship in the past.

After their succesful collaboration on the films ‘Love.net’ and ‘Margarit and Margarita’, they now reunite again, this time on the theatre stage, to perform an intense and authentic spectacle characterized by its great quality. Their impressive acting will mean there won’t be a smile missing on the face of the spectators, since the plot develops through an interesting labryinth of unexecpted meetings and events.

‘All or Nothing’ discovers the relationships between close friends, with their fates intertwined in an unusual way trying to preserve their intimacy and also their sympathy, regardless of life’s ups and downs. The spectacle is full of comical dialouges, some very fun, although also about dramatic revelations from which feelings and charming and original moments blossom. Contributing to all this is the presence of Hristo Shopov, Lilia Maravilia and Irini Jambonas with some challenging and completely realistic acting.

"SAME TIME, NEXT YEAR"

The premiere of the theatre play SAME TIME, NEXT YEAR took place in Sofia on the 14th February 2016.

Originally created by the director Bernard Slade in 1975, this piece of work immediately won the public's recognition and reached more than 14000 Broadway performances, winning some important awards as well.

Now, we have the opportunity to see live on stage Hristo Shopov and Lilia Maravilia starring as main actors, giving life to the caracters of SAME TIME, NEXT YEAR.

SAME TIME, NEXT YEAR tells the beautiful and surprising love story of a man and a woman.

George (Hristo Shopov) has an unremarkable life of a married accountant, while Doris (Lilia Maravilia) enjoys her quiet but boring life of a housewife. They meet by chance at an inn of a far coast hotel. After that magical coincidence they wake up the day after at the same bed without any memory of what happened, both confused but after this strange moment they agree to meet each other again at the same place and date in one year.

Dear friends,
In February 2018- the month of love, the play “Same Time, Next Year” with the participation of Hristo Shopov and Lilia Maravilia celebrates 2 years from its premiere! For this period, the National Tour has passed through over 28 cities around the country. Tens of thousands of theatrical art and actors’ admirers witnessed the beautiful love of the play’s characters.

Thank you, dear audience! For the love, the crowded halls, the strong applauses and the wonderful emotions you gave us!

Hristo Shopov is one of Bulgaria’s most popular and loved actors. He has earned numerous national and international awards. An example is the Best Actor award that he received in the Irkutsk Film Festival in 2004 for his role as Pontius Pilate in Mel Gibson’s ‘The Passion of the Christ’.

Hristo Shopov has been the protagonist of more than 70 films that have become genuine icons of cinema, such as ‘Yesterday’, ‘Margrit and Margarita’, ‘Eyes Cry Differently’,‘The Summer of Love of a Schlep’, ‘Love.net’, etc.

This one-of-a-kind actor’s great love and priority is cinema. But after a 15 year absence from the scene, he returns, attracted by the drama and his desire of experimenting the joy and satisfaction of personal contact with the audience.

Hristo Shopov is the leading actor of 2 spectacles:

‘The Man from the Earth’, in the Renaissance Theatre, and ‘Same Time, Next Year’, produced by Vladislav Karamfilov, with which for the first time in 2016 he will bring joy to theatre lovers outside of Sofia. These encounters will, without doubt, represent a huge emotional experience that Hristo hasn’t experienced until now.

The national tour starts in April with ‘The Man from the Earth’.

‘The Man from the Earth’ tells the story of a dream which intertwines memories from 14000 years. The author of this work, the American scriptwriter Jeremy Bixby, known for his work in ‘Star Trek’ and ‘The Twilight Zone’ habitually includes issues relating to history, philosophy, anthropology, biology and quantum physics. In this diverse spectacle, Hristo Shopov plays the university professor John Oldman, who, along with the rest of the cast, provides viewers with an extraordinary drama.

In May, the major cities of Bulgaria such as Plovdiv, Stara Zagora, VelikoTarnobo, Ruse and others, will be the hosts. The guest will be no other than the most recent project of Hristo and Lilia Maravilia: the piece ‘Same Time, Next Year’.
